PELEN was established in 2016 as the vehicle for the advisory work of Edward Dever, with its current focus principally on business restructuring, property and business support services.

Over a 29 year career in Asia, Edward Dever has worked on such diverse matters as the foreign investment regulations for the Kingdom of Cambodia, the largest steel industry merger in Thailand and acquisitions and joint ventures in tourism, mining, automotive parts and electronic media.

Between 1995 and 2003, Edward worked as a foreign legal consultant for the English law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in Bangkok Thailand, principally in the areas of corporate, joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, and insolvency/restructuring.

During the Asian Economic Crisis (1997-2003), Edward worked on a significant number of in-court, out-of-court and CDRAC restructurings on behalf of foreign banks, trade creditors and bondholders and debt restructuring,  including restructurings in the telecoms, construction and steel industries.

Since 2005, Edward has worked with and advised a number of international companies on their investments in Asia, including in the mining, online travel, destination travel management and telecoms sectors.

Typically, Edward has been employed in a full time legal or management capacity, assisting with the acquisition or sale of businesses or restructuring business operations.  Companies have included Asia Pacific Resources Ltd, Wotif Group Limited (project consultant), Hutchison Telecoms, and ICS Travel Group. 

With ICS Travel Group, Edward assumed the role of Deputy CEO, managing a complex destination travel management business with 360 group employees across 15 offices in Asia, as well as sales offices in Europe and North America.

Throughout his career in Asia, Edward has maintained strong links to the property sector in Australia, as an active investor and in the area of property management.  He has significant experience in multi-dwelling developments and dealing with the myriad community title issues which arise. 

Edward holds degrees in Economics (UQ) and Law (with Honours) (QUT), post-graduate Diplomas in Applied Finance and Investment and Financial Planning (Financial Services Institute of Australasia), and Practice Diplomas in International Joint Ventures and International Mergers and Acquisitions (IBA / UK College of Law).  He holds a Practitioners' Certificate in Mediation and Conciliation (IAMA now Resolution Institute) and has completed an Executive Certificate in International Management (Thunderbird, The Garvan School of Management (USA)).  

Edward is admitted as a Lawyer of the Supreme Court of Queensland, Australia, the High Court of Australia and the Supreme Court of England and Wales.  He is also a Commissioner for Declarations (Qld).
